On July 27 1902, the oldest car race in the world from Susa to Moncenisio was held. It is an uphill race that has become a part of car racing history, on a par with some classic grand prix endurance tests. It is a Competition which has achieved celebrity status through the achievements of famous champion drivers such as: Vincenzo Lancia, Felice Nazzaro,Alfieri Maserati, Giuseppe Campari, Achille Varzi or Mauro Nesti.

Senator Giovanni Agnelli attended the first editions of the Susa-Moncenisio race, which featured predominantly FIAT automobiles.
Mauro Scanavino invented Slalom racing in 1976. These short exiting races soon became the most popular Italian motor racing speciality. The most important of these the Susa-Moncenisio race is considered to be the best of slalom racing - like Monte Carlo for others - an event not to be missed.
