What a gem of a resort, and what an underrated one at that ! Host to the 2006 Winter Olympics, Bardonecchia has at last been recognised for what we have known for ages. No pretensions, just staightforward, honest to goodness quality skiing, in what is a first rate resort. The scenery is breathtaking, looking from the terrace of the Chesal restaurant across to the ridge of mountains that comprise the French border is just unforgettable. So maybe it doesn’t have the fantastic infrastructure of some of the top French resorts – look instead for the fantastic value for money mountain restaurants, offering up genuine and mouthwatering local delicacies at a fraction of the price you would expect to pay in France.
